A historic shrine enshrining Kibitsuhiko-no-mikoto, the model for "Momotaro." It is also called "Asahi-no-miya" (Shrine of the Morning Sun) because the morning sun rises directly from the front of the torii on the summer solstice, and has been worshipped since ancient times as a place to receive the sun's sacred energy. The grounds, where the beautiful vermilion-painted shrine buildings and surrounding rich greenery are in harmony, are filled with very calm and refreshing air. It is popular as a deity for safe childbirth and matchmaking, a representative power spot of Okayama City where you can feel the world of Japanese mythology and traditional forms of prayer firsthand.
