Tsurumaru Castle Go-ro-mon Gate, standing tall at the entrance of the ruins of Kagoshima Castle (Tsurumaru Castle) in the center of Kagoshima City, is "one of Japan's largest and most prestigious beautiful castle gates," which was completely restored in wood using traditional craftsmanship in 2020, 119 years after it was destroyed by fire in 1901. The architectural beauty of the heavy tile roof and beautiful wooden beams symbolizing the authority of the Shimazu family in the Edo period, and the contrast with the real stone walls that leave bullet marks of the fierce war at that time, deeply overwhelm international tourists. It is the highest historical landmark where you can directly experience Japan's excellent architectural techniques (craftsmanship) and the historical romance of the turbulent samurai in the city.
