This is a quiet space attached to the main store of Honda-ya, a long-established shop famous for "Uirou" (steamed cake), a specialty of Yamaguchi City. Yamaguchi's uirou is unique because it uses bracken starch (warabiko) instead of rice flour, resulting in a distinctively jiggly texture and refined sweetness, allowing you to experience the depth of traditional Japanese confectionery. At Kaiko-an, you can slowly savor sweets crafted with the artisan's dedication in a calm atmosphere that evokes a sense of history. Beautiful seasonal wagashi (Japanese sweets) are also available, making it ideal for souvenir selection. It is a place for mature relaxation where you can heal your body after a day of traveling in Yamaguchi while enjoying Japan's "spirit of hospitality" and delicate food culture.
