Cape Nagasakibana, which juts out in a straight line at the southernmost tip of the Satsuma Peninsula in Ibusuki City, is one of the leading coastal scenic spots in Kyushu where you can overlook the vast Pacific Ocean view and the overwhelming panorama of the beautiful Satsuma Fuji "Mt. Kaimon" rising before your eyes from the best angle. The pure white lighthouse standing at the tip of the cape and the contrast between the wild black lava rock surface and the blue sea are very photogenic. This place is widely known as the birthplace of Japan's traditional "Urashima Taro's Ryugu Castle Legend," and is a high-class, spiritual power spot where the beautiful vermilion-lacquered "Ryugu Shrine" enshrines Princess Otohime. If you are lucky, it is a very popular remote famous spot where you can also observe wild sea turtles swimming leisurely along the coast.
