Spreading for about 1 kilometer along Otesuji in the center of Kochi City, "Kochi's Sunday Market" is one of Japan's largest traditional open-air street markets, boasting a distinguished history that has never once ceased for over 300 years since Genroku 3 (1690). When Sunday arrives, more than 300 unique stalls line up orderly, packed with freshly harvested local vegetables, southern subtropical fruits, traditional forged cutlery, and exquisite local street food delicacies like the famous "Imo-ten" sweet potato tempura. The greatest charm is the warm local culture where citizens and travelers casually enjoy conversations within a home-like, highly energetic space. Strolling past rows of stalls serves as a premier amusement to experience Tosa's deep human warmth and gastronomy firsthand.
