Boasting an altitude of 1,982 meters, "Mt. Ishizuchi" is the highest peak in western Japan and one of Japan's "Seven Sacred Mountains," revered since ancient times as a mountain of strict ascetic faith. Utilizing the mountain ropeway, you can ascend to the mountainside all at once, allowing for full-scale mountain climbing from there. The biggest highlights are the four giant chain sections, starting with the "Trial Chain" hung on near-vertical precipices. The experience of climbing rock faces while feeling the thrill is immensely popular among adventure-loving international hikers. The summit provides an unobstructed, magnificent panorama of the Seto Inland Sea and the Shikoku mountain range, and you will be overwhelmed by the sacred beauty of great nature that changes dynamically each season with fresh green, autumn foliage, and winter rime.
