Shikokumura Museum, spreading at the foot of Mt. Yashima in Takamatsu City, is an open-air museum that relocated and restored old private houses and traditional workshops from the Edo to Meiji periods from all over Shikoku. Walking through the vast 50,000-square-meter grounds, you can feel the former Japanese lifestyle and wisdom firsthand as they were. It is packed with architectural and historical highlights, including an art museum designed by Tadao Ando and a replica of the "Iya Vine Bridge" (Kazurabashi) that you can actually cross. Additionally, at "Waraya" within the village, you can enjoy authentic Sanuki Udon inside an old folk house, savoring traditional culture with all five senses. The landscape where historical structures melt into rich nature is very beautiful, providing a deep experience like traveling back in time to good old Japan away from city bustle.
