Located at Motoyama Cape at the southern tip of Yamaguchi Prefecture, "Kuguri-iwa" is a natural work of art created over many years by the erosion of the Seto Inland Sea's waves, which carved large holes through the rock. At low tide, you can pass through the holes in the rock, and the blue sea and sky seen from there are as beautiful as a painting contained within a natural frame. At dusk, the sunlight of the setting sun dyes the rock face red, creating an even more mysterious atmosphere. It is also a geologically valuable spot, a hidden gem where you can feel the Earth's pulse while listening to the sound of waves away from the city hustle. It is an ideal spot for travelers who want to quietly converse with nature.
