Built in 1883 (Meiji 16), this is the only remaining "bottle-shaped" cement firing kiln in Japan. It is designated as a National Important Cultural Property and is a precious remain that tells the story of the dawn of the cement industry that supported Japan's modern architecture. As its name suggest, the red brick kiln with a unique shape like a "tokkuri" (sake bottle) is the crystallization of the wisdom of the artisans at that time who repeatedly tried and erred while learning Western technology. The heavy texture of the bricks and the unique form are extremely attractive to architecture fans and photography enthusiasts. It is a place of quiet majesty where you can witness the origin of Japan's advanced engineering.
