From the Edo period to the Meiji era, Fukiya Furusato Village was a special village that flourished through copper mining and the production of "Bengala," a red pigment made from iron oxide. The beautiful landscape, unified with copper-red Sekishu tiles and Bengala-colored walls, is designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
