Built to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Kyoto, this shrine features beautiful, vibrant vermilion buildings. The vast grounds, modeled after the main palace of the ancient capital Heian-kyo, symbolize the elegance of imperial culture. The main attraction is the "Shin-en" garden, spanning about 33,000 square meters.
