Chion-in, the head temple of Jodo Buddhism, is a grand-scale temple where everything is magnificent, including the "Sanmon" gate, one of Japan's largest wooden gates, and the overwhelming "Miedo" (Main Hall). The Sanmon especially overwhelms visitors with its majestic appearance. It also features the "Seven Wonders," such as the Great Bell Tower famous for the New Year's Eve bell and the "Uguisubari" (Nightingale floor) that chirps like a bird when walked upon, providing both history and fun.
