Yakujinja Shrine, standing dignifiedly in the Miyanoura area of Yakushima, is an ancient sacred shrine of extremely high pedigree, whose name is engraved even in historical books from the distant Heian period, and has been deeply revered for a long time as the "Ichinomiya" (the most prestigious shrine) at the southernmost tip of Japan. The biggest feature is the deep Japanese spiritual world of natural worship that still breathes beautifully, enshrining the magnificent mountains of Yakushima, starting with the highest peak of the World Natural Heritage, "Mt. Miyanoura," as huge gods themselves. Inside the shrine precincts surrounded by deep green trees, a dignified, heavy, and wooden main hall stands, and the moment you step in, you are wrapped in overwhelming solemnity and silence. It is a power spot where you can feel the history of warm faith of the people living on the island and the sacred energy of the earth.
