Mt. Takachiho, standing steeply on the border between Kirishima City and Miyazaki Prefecture, boasts an altitude of 1,574 meters and is a very prestigious sacred volcano globally known as the place of "Tenson Korin" (descent of the heavenly grandson), where gods first descended to earth in Japanese mythology. The biggest highlight is the "Amanosakahoko" (heavenly inverted halberd) shining in the mysterious blue sky, deeply stabbed into the summit where wild reddish-brown lava fields spread, and its overwhelming presence and historical romance deeply overwhelm international tourists. The panoramic view of the vast sea of clouds from the mountain trail is breathtakingly beautiful.
