Situated within the central part of Iki City and constructed in the late 6th century, the "Suroku Kofun" is a beautiful keyhole-shaped burial mound boasting the largest scale in Nagasaki Prefecture. Possessing a majestic scale with a total length of about 91 meters, its appearance standing quietly amid peaceful surrounding rural landscapes and deep green forests instantly draws visitors into ancient Japanese historical romance. From the stone burial chamber where interments were made, numerous premium treasures demonstrating deep exchange with the continent and Korean Peninsula have been excavated—such as gilded bronze horse trappings and beautiful glass beads—vividly conveying its brilliant international history today. Strolling under a vast sky while reflecting upon ancient kingly authority and the eternal flow of time grants deep silence and mental refreshment.
