Gorgeous and brilliant, the "Nagasaki Lantern Festival" is one of Japan's largest festivals of light, beautifully coloring Nagasaki's winter. Originating from celebration of the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) by residents of Shinchi Chinatown, the entire city transforms into a dreamlike sea of light during the period, decorated with about 15,000 colorful Chinese lanterns and grand, majestic objects. Exotically fusing elements of Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch cultures, unique, passionate performances such as the Dragon Dance, Chinese acrobatics, and erhu concerts are held everywhere, fascinating travelers worldwide. Walking through retro slopes and along rivers wrapped in warm light while experiencing Nagasaki's diverse, welcoming thermal energy lights a flame of profound emotion in your heart.
