Globally renowned as a mountain where world-class botanist Dr. Tomitaro Makino frequently visited and discovered numerous new species, the climbing path covered by mossy old cedars and rare primitive forests provides visitors with deep healing just by walking. Furthermore, it is an academically highly precious mountain where Japan's oldest geological stratum "Silurian period" fossils from about 400 million years ago were discovered, with a sacred old shrine holding Heike samurai fugitive legends standing near the summit.
