The "Kushima Ohashi Bridge," opened in 2016, is a beautiful white suspension bridge with a total length of 468 meters connecting Uwajima city area and the remote Kushima Island floating off the coast. The birth of this bridge dramatically improved access to Kushima Island, which could previously only be crossed by boat, gathering attention as a new sightseeing route. A sidewalk is also fully maintained on the bridge, providing pure exhilaration for walking or cycling while feeling the pleasant sea breeze. From atop the bridge, you can gaze at a grand panorama of the dynamic多島美 of the Uwa Sea woven by its rias coastline, alongside idyllic scenery of fishing boats quietly passing straight below.
