Ishii Town, located west of Tokushima City, is an idyllic rural area where agriculture flourishes due to the blessings of the fertile Yoshino River. It is especially famous for "Fujiidera Temple," which features one of Shikoku's largest wisteria trellises. As the 11th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, stunning purple wisterias bloom in late April, enveloping the grounds in a sweet scent. The town also offers many spots related to specialty "Wisteria" and "Strawberries," and direct sales stores where you can taste delicious local produce. While convenient to the city, stepping inside reveals traditional Japanese rural landscapes and a pilgrimage culture, allowing for heartwarming strolls in a relaxed atmosphere. It's a charming town to stop by during a Shikoku pilgrimage while being healed by seasonal flowers.
