The "Yokai House" (within Roadside Station Oboke) in Yamashiro-cho, Miyoshi City, is a unique facility themed around yokai (monster) legends passed down in this region since ancient times. This area has many sheer cliffs and deep valleys, and it's said many yokai stories were born to warn children against approaching dangerous places. The interior exhibits over 100 humorous yet somewhat eerie yokai figures handmade by locals, providing a fun way to learn about the deep mountain culture of Tokushima. Known as the legendary birthplace of the famous yokai "Konaki-jiji," experiencing this alongside the rugged natural environment allows visitors to feel the awe former Japanese people held toward nature. It is a spot packed with intellectual curiosity and playfulness for both children and adults.
