Connecting the islands of the Aki-nada Isles with seven bridges, the "Tobishima Kaido" is an excellent cycling and driving course where you can feel the calm sea view of the Seto Inland Sea up close. Compared to the famous "Shimanami Kaido," it is quieter and characterized by traditional fishing village scenery and the leisurely flow of island time. The biggest highlight is the old townscape of the Mitarai district, which flourished as a port of call for ships waiting for favorable winds during the Edo period. Designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, walking through the labyrinthine alleys while feeling the sea breeze makes you feel as if you've slipped back in time. It's a spectacular hidden route woven by the blue of the sea and the refreshing green of the lemon-producing region.
