An extremely rare cherry blossom variety blooming in the grounds of Myohon-ji Temple in Kita-ku, Okayama City. Characterized by "double-flowering" where many petals are attached to one flower and the center looks like an even smaller flower, it is designated as a National Natural Monument. A sad but beautiful legend remains for this cherry tree that a priest once loved it, and it has been carefully protected by local people. During the flowering period, a gorgeous and mystical landscape spreads out as if light crimson clouds are floating, perfect for travelers who want to touch the delicate beauty of Japan's four seasons and the stories dwelling in trees.
