A white-walled Western-style building in the French Renaissance style standing at the foot of the Tottori Castle ruins. Built in 1907 as a villa for the former lord of the Tottori Clan, its brilliant exterior and elegant interior utilizing the highest technology of the time are designated as National Important Cultural Properties. Famous as a filming location for the movie "Rurouni Kenshin," the sight of the European-style building standing within a Japanese garden is extremely photogenic. With beautiful designs such as spiral staircases inside, it is a spot overflowing with cultural charm, conveying the memory of Japan's modernization and the dignity of Meiji-era aristocratic culture.
