Boasting the largest area for a "pond" in Japan (technically a pond, but effectively a lake), peaceful waterside scenery spreads for about 18 km around. The five islands floating in the pond and the golden brilliance of the water at sunset are extremely beautiful, making it ideal for strolls and cycling. It is also known for a rare traditional fishing method called "Ishigama fishing" in winter. In spring, thousands of cherry trees bloom in full in the surrounding parks, cherished as a place of relaxation for locals. It is a precious place where you can feel the calm and rich waterside life of Japan, not over-touristified.
