"Tanzan Shrine" in Tōnumine, Sakurai City, is a historic shrine known as the place where the consultation for the Taika Reform was held. The world's only "wooden thirteen-storied pagoda" has an elegant silhouette that harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding deep greenery and autumn foliage, showcasing the essence of Japanese wooden architecture. In autumn, about 3,000 maple trees dye the entire mountain bright red, offering a view praised as the "Nikko of Kansai." The gorgeous vermilion shrine buildings and the silent forest air convey both the weight of a turning point in Japanese history and the beauty of changing seasons in a deeply emotional sanctuary.
