The "Fujiwara Palace Site" in Kashihara City is the location of the Daigokuden (Audience Hall) of Fujiwara-kyo, Japan's first full-scale capital modeled after Chinese city planning. It is now a vast meadow where you can experience the overwhelming scale of the former capital. While no buildings remain, the earthen mounds indicating column positions and reconstructed red pillars silently tell the scale of that time. Notably, vast flower fields spread each season: rapeseeds in spring, lotuses in summer, and cosmos in autumn beautifully color the site. Under the unobstructed vast sky, this place where ancient history and seasonal flowers resonate is a hidden gem for travelers enjoying photography or a quiet stroll.
