"Shoryuji Castle Park," reproducing a Sengoku-period fortress, is a site of a historical love story where the warlord Hosokawa Tadaoki and Gracia (daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide) spent their early married life. The beautifully restored turrets and gates, along with the surrounding moat, create a retro and heroic atmosphere unique to Japanese castle towns. The park is maintained as a beautiful Japanese garden, where you can walk quietly while reflecting on history. With exhibits related to Gracia, a tragic heroine, it is an interesting place for travelers interested in the deep historical drama of Japanese Bushido, Christian faith, and familial love.
