The "Kunda Festival" passed down in the Kunda district of Miyazu City is a heroic festival where the faith of people living with the sea lives on. The greatest highlight is the parade of traditional Mikoshi shrines carried vigorously by local youth. Shishimai lion dances and other dedicated performing arts are also performed, overwhelming spectators with their powerful movements and unique sounds. Though near the Amanohashidate area, you can touch the sincere prayers and traditional forms of the local people, not directed at tourists. It is a hidden magnificent celebration that leaves a deep impression on travelers who want to personally feel the pride and energetic vitality of Japanese fishing village culture.
