Fushimi, located in southern Kyoto City, is a world-famous area for Fushimi Inari Taisha, where thousands of vermilion torii gates stand in a line. It is also known as one of "Japan's leading sake-brewing districts" blessed with high-quality spring water since ancient times, and historic breweries line the streets. Once a hub for water transportation, the atmospheric sight of Jikkoku-bune boats crossing the river still heals the hearts of visitors today. There are many spots reminiscent of the Bakumatsu period, such as Teradaya associated with Sakamoto Ryoma, making it a highly attractive area where you can simultaneously experience mystical faith, mellow sake culture, and the romance of history.
