Located in the south-central part of Mie Prefecture, Taiki Town is a town of clear streams and deep forests, home to "Takihara-no-miya," an annex of Ise Jingu. The Miya River and Ouchiyama River flowing through the town boast some of the highest transparency in Japan, and activities like river play and sweetfish (Ayu) fishing are popular. Dairy farming is also flourishing, and the rich "Ouchiyama Milk" is loved as a local specialty. "Minpaku" (home-stay) experiences in the middle of rich nature are actively conducted, and are highly rated by travelers who want to stay in an ordinary Japanese rural home and experience authentic Japanese life while interacting with warm local people.
