Located on the border of Kihoku Town and Owase City, "Magose Pass" is a famous spot said to have the most beautiful cobblestones on the Kumano Kodo Iseji route. The heavy cobblestone road continuing through deep Owase Cypress forests lets you feel the weight of history just by walking, enveloped in a mystical atmosphere. If you extend your walk a bit from the pass, you can overlook a spectacular view from a giant rock called "Zou-no-se" (Elephant's Back) on Mt. Binshi. The beauty of the mossy cobblestones, unique to this high-rainfall region, is the pinnacle of Japanese scenic beauty and continues to fascinate hikers from all over the world.
