One of Japan’s three largest sand dunes, Nakatajima is a vast masterpiece of sand and wind facing the Pacific Ocean. The powerful "Enshu-no-Karakaze" (strong winter winds) creates beautiful rippling patterns called "Fumon" on the sand, offering an ever-changing landscape. It is also famous as a nesting ground for loggerhead turtles. Walking on the vast dunes while listening to the roaring waves provides a profound sense of the earth’s grand scale and natural beauty.
