One of Japan’s largest traditional outdoor revolving stages, used for rural kabuki performances since the Edo period. Every three years, a massive wooden stage is hand-assembled by the community. Watching the ingenious manual mechanisms rotate the stage during a performance is a rare and moving experience that showcases the deep roots of traditional performing arts in the Japanese countryside.
