Lake Hibara

Formed by the eruption of Mt. Bandai in 1888, this is the largest lake in the Urabandai area. Its landscape, dotted with beautiful islands, is praised as the "Matsushima of the Tohoku region." In summer, it is an outdoor paradise for canoeing, bass fishing, and camping, while in winter, visitors can enjoy smelt fishing on the thick, frozen lake surface. Sakura Toge (Cherry Blossom Pass)

This new cherry blossom landmark features approximately 2,000 Oyama-zakura trees planted to commemorate the birth of Princess Aiko in 2001. In spring, the entire pass is filled with pale pink blossoms, creating a wonderful contrast with the rugged peaks of Urabandai towering in the background. Because these trees bloom slightly later than other varieties, it is a charming spot to enjoy a late spring. It is a beautiful, refreshing landscape that embodies the regenerative power of nature and a celebration for the Japanese Imperial Family.
