One of Japan's 100 Finest Castles, it features massive stone walls and the beautifully reconstructed Minowa Gate. It holds significant historical weight as a stage of the Boshin War and is now enjoyed as "Kasumigajo Park." In autumn, the "Nihonmatsu Chrysanthemum Dolls" festival is held, where life-sized dolls "wearing" thousands of chrysanthemum flowers are arranged by skilled craftsmen—a must-see. It is a spot where you can enjoy the dignity of a castle town, traditional gardening culture, and samurai history from spring blossoms to winter snow.
