It features splendid floats (yatai) parading through the town to the accompaniment of the bayashi (festival music). Said to originate in the late Heian period, it is counted as one of the "Three Great Bayashi Festivals of Japan." The "Ekimae Gyōji" (Station Front Event), where the floats from $10text{ districts}$ gather, is a must-see.This festival is designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
