This is one of the few remaining primeval forests of natural Akita cedar (Akita Sugi) in Akita Prefecture. Giant trees with a diameter of about $1text{ meter}$ and a height of about $50text{ meters}$ stand clustered here. Not only the "Kimimachi Sugi," but the forest itself is a representative, world-class beautiful cedar grove in Japan. Its scale is vastly different from the typical artificial forests often seen along roadsides.
