Oshika Gobansho Park is a superb scenic spot located on a hilltop near the tip of the Oshika Peninsula, overlooking Kinkazan. The park was developed on the site of a foreign ship surveillance post (Gobansho) used by the Date clan during the Edo period. From the observatory within the park, you can gaze upon a magnificent Pacific Ocean panorama featuring Kinkazan, known as the Island of the Gods, and a series of steep cliffs. On clear days, groups of dolphins and whales may be sighted. It is a place where you can feel the dynamic coastal beauty and history of Sanriku.
