Kuji City, Iwate Prefecture, is a town in the northern Sanriku Coast known for its rustic charm, having been the setting for an NHK serial TV novel. Its greatest appeal is that it is the only place in Japan where women called the "Northernmost Ama (Sea Divers)" are active.
