Along the embankment of the Shiroishi River flowing through southern Miyagi Prefecture, lies Hitome Senbonzakura (A Thousand Cherry Trees at a Glance), a spectacular spot where approximately $1,200text{ cherry trees}$ bloom over a distance of about $8text{ km}$. As the name suggests, a magnificent view spreads out, allowing you to see a thousand cherry trees at once.In the background of this cherry tree line, the remaining snow on the Zao Mountain Range, the symbol of the Tohoku region, shines brightly. The contrast between the light pink of the cherry blossoms, the white of the snow-capped mountains, and the blue sky is breathtakingly beautiful.During the blooming season, typically from early to mid-April, visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the river, or enjoy hanami (cherry blossom viewing) from houseboats or the temporarily operated SL train.
